OUR MOVEMENT
Welcome to "Our Movement", a movement dedicated to ending hostile architecture. Through advocating for policy reform at all levels, and spreading awareness, we aim to prioritise the well-being and dignity of all residents. Join us as we strive to create communities where everyone feels welcome and valued. Together, we can build a future free from exclusion and inequality.
MISSION STATEMENTS

IDENTIFYING RESPONSIBILITY
Within the complex web of the built environment, it is crucial to identify the stakeholders responsible for the implementation of hostile architecture within our cityscapes. While it's tempting to point fingers at specific entities, the reality is often more complex, as decision-makers, including city planners, policymakers and architects, all play roles in shaping our built environment (Clay and Albers, 2016).
However, it is essential to recognise that hostile architecture is often a symptom of broader societal issues, including: inequality, lack of affordable housing, and systemic neglect of vulnerable populations (Izzo, 2022; Ferreira da Silva, 2021; Kussler, 2021).
Thus, we should campaign for policy reform, community engagement, education, and awareness initiatives, aligning with our mission statements to promote housing justice and dignity for all (Dawkins, 2020).
"The rise of hostile architecture shows how design can be used as a harsh measure rather than making places more comfortable and liveable."
(Zorach, 2021)

01
AWARENESS WALK
Join us for an eye-opening walk through the UK streets on our Awareness Walk, led by our knowledgeable guides. This guided tour will take you to areas where hostile architecture is prevalent, highlighting its impact on the marginalised communities, whilst learning about the stories behind these designs.
02
COMMUNITY DESIGN WORKSHOP
The Community Design Workshop is a collaborative event where community members come together with architects and designers to brainstorm inclusive urban design solutions, through hands-on activities where participants have the opportunity to envision alternative public spaces that prioritise inclusivity and accessibility for all members of the community.
03
PUBLIC RALLY
Join us in making our voices heard by participating in a public rally dedicated to raising awareness about hostile architecture and its boarder impact on issues such as homelessness and affordable housing. Through visibly demonstrating our solidarity and determination, we can pressure decision-makers to address the issue of exclusionary design practices in our cityscape and advocate for inclusive urban design solutions. Our goal is to urge decision-makers to reprioritise their investments and focus on initiatives that provide support and services to vulnerable populations, helping them transition out of homelessness and into stable housing; instead of causing more damage to them.
